The Lions are always ready to respond to community needs. Westbay Marketplace with the assistance of Plates With Purpose, the Scituate Lions Club, and the East Greenwich Lions Club gave out 100 ready-to-eat meals, 230 boxes of food, and 230 boxes of household products last year.
-
Members of the Lions Clubs boxed the food and household products in preparation for distribution.
-
The food and household products were provided through donations from the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, local drives, and by corporate supporters. Paul Salera, executive director of Westbay Community Action, aims to make the drive-through pantry a quarterly event.
Turkey Trot
The Turkey Trot is a fully sanctioned and certified 5K race held in East Greenwich the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The Lions collect food, monetary donations, and assist with traffic coordination during the race.
